Texas Executive MBA Program
Here is my analysis for the Texas EMBA application essay for the 2013-2014 application cycle. Enjoy!
- Please submit a brief essay discussing your goals in pursuing a graduate business education. (Limit one page)
Analysis: The essay requirement for McCombs School of Business Executive MBA program is asking you to talk about your goals and your motivation to pursue an EMBA. While they are not asking you specifically why you are interested in studying at McCombs, you should refer to this topic in your answer. You will have other opportunities to manifest your interest in Texas EMBA (from an info session to informal meetings with an admissions officer), but you want to reinforce this message in this essay (briefly!).

When talking about your career, make sure to connect your past experience to your future goals – while the admissions committee at McCombs will have your resume and recommendation letters, you still want the reader of the essay to understand the context of your ambitions and vision for your career. You want to show the reader that your goals and upcoming challenges are those of a senior manager, and that the EMBA program will help you to excel in them.
