If you live in the Midwest, Chicago Booth offers one of the best part-time MBA programs available – the brand is strong across the US, the network is wide, and the academic experience is equal to a full-time MBA.

Getting into Chicago Booth’s Evening and Weekend MBA program is no walk in the park, though; the school accepts only top students, so be ready to invest time and thought in the essays.

Essay One (250 words): We often have a short window of time to make an impression. Introduce yourself to your classmates. (250 words maximum)

Essay tips: This is the place to talk about your overall profile, not to brag about your professional accomplishments or how you did well in undergrad. Write a nice introduction that you could present on the first day of class or at a networking event. This question is very similar to ones from NYU Stern, Columbia MBA, and Harvard.

Essay Two (500 words): Chicago Booth offers four ways to earn an MBA. Why is the Evening MBA the best fit for your short- and long-term career goals? Why are you the best fit for the program? (500 words maximum)

Essay tips : Focus on how your MBA will support change and growth in your career. Don’t talk about why you didn’t choose a full-time option – no one is looking for excuses. Instead prove you’re a good fit by demonstrating that you have researched the program and know how you will contribute to the classroom, clubs, etc.

Essay Three (500 words): Developing leadership skills is an important component of an MBA program. What qualities do you value in a leader? How will an MBA from Booth help develop your leadership skills? (500 words maximum)

Essay tips : This is a pretty long essay for a such a general topic as leadership. It’s easier to talk about others so you might be tempted to talk mostly about general leadership qualities; I don’t recommended it. Spend at least half of the essay talking about yourself, how you wish to develop, whether you hope to improve at managing conflicts, inspiring large teams, making decisions with limited information, or something else.  Connect the skills you want to hone with the career you aspire to, your industry, and your background.
